Secessionist art

Secession is the last of universal international artistic styles. Secession created a fashion and lifestyle in the late 19th and early 20th century. Famous secessionists were Gustav Klimt, Alfons Mucha, Charles Rennie Mackintosh
What is special in secessionist movement is that secessionist didn’t use straight lines, they were using unusual colors and natural shapes (leaves, flowers …) and they weren’t focused on details but mainly on colors. Everything was formed to show contrast and harmony.

Here are some pictures that I like:

 Gustav Klimt: The Kiss, 1907 – 1908

Alfons Mucha: Maude Adams (1872–1953) as Joan of Arc

If you are interested, there is a secessionist exhibition in Art gallery in Banská Bystrica.
